LEADLIGHT REPAIRS

Adelaide Leadlight Centre has repaired, restored and rebuilt thousands of leadlight panels over more than 40 years.
We hold a huge stock of old glass and recognise the importance of providing you with an authentic repair.

ACCIDENTAL DAMAGE

Broken glass in leadlights can be readily repaired. In most instances the panel will need to be removed from its frame and taken to our studio for repair.

We will install temporary glass or cladding to secure your property while we are repairing it.

Occasionally, if a leadlight is too large or difficult to remove, we may choose to repair it in-situ, rather than risk doing further damage.

WEAR & TEAR

Well constructed leadlights will last more than a century, however, some older leadlights,
particularly those installed in doors, may suffer lead fatigue.

If the damage is advanced, we can rebuild the panel with new lead, returning it to better than new condition.

We will sometimes recommend inclusion of reinforcement or double glazing to ensure a longer life for your restored leadlight.

RESTORATION

We also restore leadlights that may not require any immediate repairs.

We scrub away the decades of dirt and paint from the glass, resolder broken joints, replace cracked pieces of glass, replace border leads and wire ties.

Finally, we'll re-putty and polish the panels, revealing their original beauty.
