RAUKKEN CHURCH
This set of stained glass windows was created for the Raukken church as part of the refurbishment of the building.
Raukken is an aboriginal settlement located near Lake Albert with a rich history.
The church actually features on the Australian $50 note.
These windows were recreated from a single black and white photo of the original windows, which were almost completely destroyed by vandals as the church fell into disrepair. Luckily, glass fragments found on site provided some clues as to the original colour scheme. The windows are dedicated to four indigenous soldiers from Raukken who lost their lives in World War 1.
